Lochland’s DSPs work directly with adults who have intellectual and developmental disabilities in their homes to ensure their safety and well-being, to promote their independence. DSPs are the key of the organization, providing direct care and enhancing the quality of life for clients through engagement and relationships, as well as integration in the community with outings to dinner, movies, bowling, and lots more!
Required Skills and Abilities for DSPs:
- A positive attitude and lots of energy to have fun!
- Physical ability to support clients with in movement and safety.
- A High School Diploma or GED
- A valid New York State Driver’s License and reliable transportation
- The ability to /interest in gaining training and agency certifications.
- Some flexibility in schedule is often required.
- A background check is required prior to hire.
- Candidates must have good verbal and written communication skills, and some basic computer knowledge,
- Most importantly, applicants should possess a positive attitude, a passion for helping people, and a desire to work as part of a team.
