The Antiques Club of the Finger Lakes will host a program on Period Painted Wall Decoration. The speaker, Linda Carter Lefko, is a nationally known historic artist and author. Lefko is co-author of Folk Art Murals of the Rufus Porter School: New England Landscapes 1825-1845, Schiffer 2011. She will share her research into the early wall artists who plied their trade throughout New England and even as close to us as Bloomfield, NY. Lefko has documented murals in over 300 early houses, inns and taverns and will share with us her continuing research with additional discoveries in the Lakes region of New Hampshire. Murals, as an art form of decorating walls in homes, are often accompanied by other decorative paint such as wall stenciling, free hand brushstroke painting and graining. These will all be included in her presentation,
The public is welcome and admission is free. Refreshments will be served following the program. The Antiques Club of the Finger Lakes includes residents of the Finger Lakes with a common interest in antiques, collecting, and local history. Programming includes lectures, demonstrations and occasional visits to local history sites.
