"Simply Piano: A Celebration of The Smith’s Steinway," a fundraising concert to support artistic programming at the historic Smith Opera House and throughout the Finger Lakes region.
From jazz to classical to the standards, this keyboard extravaganza gathers together a host of local and regional artists for an afternoon of great music performed on one of the area’s finest instruments. George Abraham and Jewel Hara, Anthony and Angela Calabrese, Hilda Collins, Meg Heaton, Chang Lee, Troy Slocum, and Steve Venuti are among those planning to tickle The Smith’s ivories.
Coordinated to coincide with William Smith College’s 100th anniversary, its president Mark Gearan, an accomplished pianist, is also expected to participate.
From Billy Joel to Olga Kern, Jim Brickman to Simone Dinnerstein, for thirteen years, The Smith’s Steinway has been played by some of the finest artists in the world. This special fundraiser honors the music, the musician, and the extraordinary musical instrument donated by local philanthropist, Mary Lienk in 1995.
All patrons are invited to stay after the recital and enjoy complimentary dessert.
General Admission tickets are $25, $10 for students. There are also a limited number of $35 VIP tickets available. VIP patrons receive early admission to the venue, a special gift bag, and a reception with light hors d'oeuvres featuring a "meet & greet" with participating artists. Tickets go on sale Friday, August 8 at noon.
