A riotously funny sex farce by Johnnie Mortimer and Brian Cooke ("No Sex Please, We’re British"), "When the Cat’s Away" is directed by veteran actor John King making his directorial debut . Based on a popular British TV sit com that was remade in the US as "Three’s Company" and later "The Ropers," "When the Cat’s Away" is the hilarious tale of Mildred Roper (Melissa Baxter), a long-suffering, frustrated wife, planning a second honeymoon to Paris with her blundering husband George (Patrick Fegley). When her frigid sister Ethel (Susan Sinicropi) appears, having left her philandering spouse Humphrey (Steve Mitchell), who is having an affair with his young secretary Jennifer (Mariah Ernhout), the sisters decide to go on the trip together without the men. But Jennifer won’t go out with Humphrey because her roommate Shirley (Liz Olmstead) is suicidal. So Humphrey blackmails George into double-dating, just as a baggage handler’s strike causes the lady’s flight to be cancelled. Then things start to get complicated.
The show is produced locally by Susan Sinicropi. Rhonda Jasper is stage manager, Erin Winston is assistant stage manager, and Jeff Winston is master carpenter. Carol Millis is the props master while Kris Marble and Corrine Ferguson are the costumers. Ralph Sinicropi designed the sound and Ellie Albro designed the set. Lynn Patti was responsible for set decoration, Kevin Schoonover provided publicity and Donna Russell was in charge of advertising.
