Creating a sound that is both familiar and refreshingly different, the Santa Cruz River Band -- named for the lost river that once cooled Tucson and gave life to shady riverbank cottonwoods -- perform theirunique blend of traditional Mexican and American music styles with textures of country and blues rhythms. This is the third concert in the theater’s 2008 "Passport World Music Series."
Gilbert Brown, Michael J. Ronstadt, and Ted Ramirez perform in English, Spanish, Welsh, and American Indian languages, presenting an intriguing and powerful musical program filled with the history and mystical lore of the Great American Southwest. They create unique and beautiful music filled with outstanding vocal harmonies and masterful musicianship. Their music is authentic, original, and deeply rooted in the musical styles and traditions of the United States and Mexico.
Their new album "Signal Fire" is an intriguing and captivating collection of original, contemporary and classic story-songs. The album authentically represents a very beautiful heritage and vision found in the people and places of the American Southwest.
Tickets are $15 general admission. Series subscriptions are also available for $45 -- four shows for the price of three. Series subscribers also enjoy the benefit of the "Passport Ticket Exchange" whereby if they are unable to attend a particular performance, they can use the ticket for another performance, give it to a friend, or invite a guest to attend a future performance. Doors open at 7 for the 8:00 show.
