The Presbyterian, First United Methodist, and First Baptist congregations invite you to join us as we relive Christ's experiences from the entry into Jerusalem through His crucifixion. The combined choirs of the three churches will sing Joseph M. Martin's "Song of Shadows" and we'll celebrate communion together during this musical "tenebrae" service. "Tenebrae" is Latin for shadows or darkness. Candles will be extinguished one by one, symbolizing the extinguishing of Jesus on the Cross. It is a solemn and somber service, recreating the emotional aspects of the Passion story, the sense of the betrayal, abandonment, and agony of the events. It is left unfinished, because the story isn't over until Easter Day. The service will be led by the Reverends Nancy Birdsong, James Gerling, Wade Jarrett, and Janice Robinson
