The League of Women Voters of Geneva will honor Alejandra Molina with the League’s Agnes Slosson Lewis Award at its annual dinner Thursday, June 20, 2013 at 5:30 PM at the Lochland School in Geneva.
The award is given in honor of one of the founders of the League of Women Voters of Geneva and the League of Women Voters of New York State. First given in 1960, the award recognizes women for leadership ability and inspiration to others as well as broad interest in the community and in good government over an extended period of time.
After the award presentation, attendees will have the opportunity to hear Iva Deutchman, professor of Political Science at Hobart and William Smith, speak on “Political Polarization: Are More Women in Politics the Answer?” Deutchman has previously taught at SUNY-Albany, Vassar College and the University of Melbourne (Australia). Her most recent publication in a long line of major publications is “Electoral Challenges of Moderate Factions: Main Streeters and Blue Dogs 1994-2006” written with colleague DeWayne Lucas and published in The Forum.
The event is open to the public. Dinner is being catered by Red Dove Catering and costs $22 per person. Reservations should be made to Dawn Kelley at 315.729.0249 or dawndc01@hotmail.com by Tuesday, June 18th.
