After more than 20 years of music making, the formula for the Indigo Girls remains unchanged – two women with guitars telling it like it is. Catch the iconic folk rock duo in their first Geneva appearance. Opening the show is Canadian alt-country artist Kathleen Edwards.
Twenty years after they began releasing records as the Indigo Girls, Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have politely declined the opportunity to mellow with age. The devoted environmental and social-justice activists and lifelong music-industry mavericks got their start in the Athens, Georgia college rock scene which included R.E.M. and The Georgia Satellites. Their first major-label release in 1988, titled "Indigo Girls," charted at #22 and their first hit "Closer To Fine” went Platinum and won the Grammy Award for Best Contemporary Folk Recording. They were also nominated for Best New Artist.
Amy Ray and Emily Saliers have become part of the cultural landscape.
Their songs blend personal and universal reflections of the world. In the path of understanding themselves and the world, the music of the Indigo Girls has hummed its way into the hearts and souls of fans across the globe.
