The Geneva Historical Society will hold its annual dinner on Thursday, November 1, 2012 the Vandervort Room in the Scandling Center at Hobart and William Smith Colleges. The evening begins with a social hour at 6:00 p.m and dinner will be served at 6:30 p.m. The evening’s speaker will be Peter Bell, Winemaker at Fox Run Vineyards, who will talk about winemaking in the Finger Lakes.
In addition, the Society will honor Ford Weiskittel as Volunteer of the Year for his many contributions to the Society, particularly his recent efforts as Interim Director. Ford has served on the Board of Trustees for nineteen years and been Treasurer of the Society since 2006. He is a dedicated volunteer in many community organizations, serving as President of the Geneva City School Board, on the Historic District Commission, and as President of Geneva Concerts. He also founded the modern rowing program at William Smith College and is the team’s assistant coach. Ford is the Director of Trireme Trusts, USA, and he and his wife Harriot live on South Main Street in Geneva.
The dinner is open to the public, but reservations are required. Tickets are $30 per person. Dinner includes an entrée, soup, salad, dessert, and coffee or tea.
