Joseph A. Rivera-Ramos Artist, Philosopher, Urban Ecologist, and Man of Service; Rivera-Ramos is an active member of the community, and a person concerned with the people who shall inherit the world beyond us.
After graduating from Hobart and William Smith Colleges in 2004, Rivera-Ramos moved to Boston and established a sustainable landscaping company, involved with various beautification programs. He moved forward to re-explore his final thesis of his senior year at HWS, participating with the Boston Society of Architects, focusing more on urban scales of sustainable planning and development. He was led to Arcosanti, Urban Laboratory in Arizona, where he took these concepts further with the work being done there. Beyond Arcosanti, Rivera-Ramos met Richard Register, President of Eco-City Builders, interning and giving presentations on Arcology- Architecture and Ecology.
His path led him back to the Finger Lakes, Geneva NY, where blooming as a local artist and active member of the community, he is writing a book on Urbanism and the Future of Humankind, and is in the process of establishing the Fingerlakes Urban Ecology Lab, a foundation that will bridge the concepts of his work altogether to benefit the Region of the Finger Lakes over the next hundred years.
