The Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union presents an artist exhibition by local artist, Carrie Smalser. Her work is on display at the FLFCU Main Office (Geneva Branch) lobby and Loan Department. An opening reception with the artist will be held Friday, July 10, 2015 from 5:00 PM ? 7:00 PM at the Credit Union?s Main Office. Light refreshments, including a wine tasting will be provided. A lifelong resident of Ovid, Smalser developed an interest in photography at a young age, entering her photographs in the Seneca County and New York State Fairs for judging as a local 4-H'er. As she reached early adulthood the camera was put away for a career as an EMT with a local ambulance service. When her son was diagnosed with autism spectrum disorder at age 3 they would spend hours pouring over photographs. She decided she wanted to try to see the world through his eyes. What resulted were images of beautiful, intense color and breathtaking compositions. She continues to use her son's unique point of view as inspiration, as well as the beautiful colors, sounds, smells and touch of nature. Carrie's artistic drive is capturing natural scenes to provide real life views of the Finger Lakes and other parts of the world she visits. One of her greatest photography joys, she feels blessed to be invited by the local Amish community to photograph their way of life while still respecting their cultural beliefs. She continues a love of fire photography as a member of the Ovid Fire Department. Her work with Seneca County Chamber of Commerce has appeared in multiple travel and tourism publications, Firehouse Magazine, Elmira Star Gazette, and on the front pages of the Ithaca Journal and Finger Lakes Times. All the prints you see on display and many others are on Carrie's website, www.capturedbycarriephotography.com, Photos can be ordered in various sizes on her website. To purchase any of the images that are on display at FLFCU, contact Carrie directly and arrangements will be made to have them available to you as soon as possible.
