Jim Kimball - Country Dance Fiddle Workshop
For Fiddlers and Violinists at All Levels
Jim Kimball teaches music history, world music and folklore, and directs the Geneseo String Band in the Music Department at SUNY Geneseo. He plays fiddle, button accordion, keyboards, jaw harp, bones, and banjo; calls square dances and frequently lectures and presents papers on many musical subjects. Jim has collected tunes and stories from several old time musicians and callers, written articles, and presented at folk arts and museum venues. He performs regularly at the Farmer's Museum in Cooperstown and the Genesee Country Museum in Mumford, where he specializes in 19th century popular and folk music traditions.
This workshop is part of a series presented by Kit Fallon, performing fiddler and teacher, as part of her continuing Sunday Sessions for fiddlers.
A session will follow the workshop - attendees are encouraged to hang out and try their new skills!
