DESCRIPTION:The Geneva Historical Society is planning a one-day trip to the Bethel Woods Center for the Performing Arts on Friday\, October 9\, 2015. The Bethel Woods Center is a non-profit performing arts center and museum located at the site of the 1969 Woodstock Festival. The 15\,000 seat amphitheater presents a wide variety of musical genres and performers. The Museum at Bethel Woods\, which opened to the public in 2008\, is housed in a beautiful LEED-certified green building\, set back from the top of the Woodstock festival hillside. The Museum's main exhibit\, Woodstock and the Sixties is an immersive\, multi-media experience that combines film\, music\, interactive displays\, artifacts\, and personal narratives to tell the story of the unique experience of the Woodstock festival and its significance as a culminating event of a decade of sweeping cultural change. Temporary exhibits are: Threads: Connecting '60s and Modern Rock Wear\, featuring over 40 vintage outfits drawn from the personal collection of designer\, musician\, and vintage clothing collector\, Andy Hilfiger\, and Written In Stone: Sculpture by Harry Gordon.\n\n\n\nThe price for the trip is $75 and includes motorcoach transportation\, a guided tour of the grounds at Bethel Woods\, admission to the Bethel Woods Museum and a boxed lunch. Dinner will be available at the Cracker Barrel Restaurant at your own expense on the return trip.\n\n\n\nThe bus will leave from the Geneva History Museum at 8 AM and return to Geneva around 9:00 PM. Parking is available on street or in the Trinity Episcopal Church lot\, south of the church. A minimum number of participants are required for the trip to run and seating is limited.
