SUMMARY:The Wailers return to the Smith Opera House
DESCRIPTION:The most celebrated reggae act of all time\, The Wailers\, return to the Smith Opera House. As the infamous backing band for Bob Marley from 1974 until his untimely death from cancer in 1981\, The Wailers have long been recognized as a formative link to the Reggae tradition. Their ability and international acclaim supercedes all others in that musical realm. Marley's death brought tragedy to the lives of his bandmates but did not destroy their passion for music. Now led by rhythm guitarist Junior Marvin and bassist Aston "Family Man" Barrett\, The Wailers have spent the past two and 1/2 decades on the international touring scene making a new name for themselves. They are currently finishing a summer tour with the Dave Mathews Band. Now\, 26 years after the death of their frontman\, The Wailers continue to play the original hits which made them known the world over while still creating new and original music.\nThe celebrated band has sold over 250 million records worldwide and played to an estimated 24 million people over their thirty year history\, cementing their position as musical legends not to be missed. Presented by Hobart and William Smith Colleges in conjunction with The Smith Opera House.
