SUMMARY:Making Waves for Hospice
DESCRIPTION:Canandaigua\, NY Over 50 swimmers and boaters will be Making Waves for Hospice on August 27thth\, 2011. All physically fit swimmers and their boating escorts are invited to join us for a one mile swim across Canandaigua Lake. Since 2000 Dr. Kerry Graff has organized this swim to benefit Ontario-Yates Hospice. The swim honors the memory of her friend\, Dr. David Reed. \n\n \n\n	This year's swim is scheduled for August 27th at Onanda Park in Canandaigua. There is a $40.00 registration fee and swimmers are responsible for arranging their own escorts. The boating escorts must wear lifejackets and have one available for their swimmer. Swimmers are also strongly encouraged to seek pledges for this event.\n\n \n\n	Dr. Graff has witnessed first hand the difference Ontario-Yates Hospice has made in the lives of patients and their families and has made her gift back to the organization by implementing this fundraising event. Passionate about the hospice mission\, Dr. Graff is extremely appreciative to those who participate. The event has drawn entire families as well as individuals whose purpose is to swim in memory of a loved one. \n\n \n\n	Ontario-Yates Hospice\, a program of Finger Lakes Visiting Nurse Service\, is a service for people who have made a conscious decision not to pursue curative treatment for a life-limiting illness. At Ontario-Yates Hospice we provide care for terminally ill people in their own homes\, nursing homes\, or other comfort care facilities. Our goal is to enhance the quality of life for patients and their families and to address the varied dimensions affected throughout the course of a terminal illness. For more information about the swim or Ontario-Yates Hospice\, please call 1-800-253-4439 or check us out on the web at www.flvns.org.
