DESCRIPTION:SLIDE INTO SPRING?.\n\nHELP ANOTHER ADULT ACHIEVE THEIR LITERACY GOALS\n\n\n\n\n\nCANANDAIGUA\, NY ?Literacy Volunteers of Ontario-Yates (LVOY) is offering two Tutor Training Workshops. These workshops will prepare potential tutors who wish to work with either adult Basic Literacy Learners or adult English Language Learners.\n\n\n\n	As part of its new Tutor Training Initiative\, LVOY offers a 3-hour Orientation session\, two 3-hour Basic Literacy sessions\, two 3-hour English Language sessions and a 3-hour Successful Tutoring session.  \n\n\n\n	Basic Literacy Workshop will be as follows: Orientation Session on Thursday\, April 7 from 6:00-9:00pm\, Basic Literacy Sessions 1 and 2 on Tuesdays\, April 12 and April 19 from 6:00-9:00pm\, and Successful Tutoring Session on Thursday\, April 28 from 6:00-9:00pm.\n\n\n\nEnglish Language Workshop will be as follows:  Orientation Session on Thursday\, April 7 from 6:00-9:00pm\, English Language Learner Sessions 1 and 2 on Thursdays\, April 14 and 21 from 6:00-9:00pm\, and Successful Tutoring Session on Thursday\, April 28 from 6:00-9:00pm. \n\n \n\nSince sessions within the workshops will be held at different locations in the two counties\, please contact the Literacy Volunteers office at (585) 396-1686 or (315) 536-6799 for further details and locations.  Attendance at a one-hour information session is a pre-requisite to participating in these upcoming training workshops.  Registration is required prior to the start of each workshop.\n\n\n\n	In order to become a tutor\, you must:  be 18 years of age\, have an interest in helping adult learners\, be a high school graduate (or have GED)\, be able to attend all sessions within the workshop you choose\, complete homework assignments and be willing to devote at least 2 hours per week to work with an adult learner.  Tutors need not have a teaching background or have knowledge of a foreign language.
