DESCRIPTION:This event kicks off a community garden lecture series supporting the Geneva Community Garden Program. \n\n\n\nBased on her book of the same name\, Sally presents a chemical-free system of gardening with a focus on companion plant combinations?herbs\, flowers\, vegetables together\, all with the purpose of attracting beneficial insects and other garden helpers. The slide program centers around a vegetable garden\, but also is interesting and educational for flower gardeners who also want to set up a biodiverse\, nature-friendly yard. The talk includes plant lists for attracting the beneficials. Books are available for sale and signing.\n\n\n\nSally Cunningham is a Certified Nursery& Landscape Professional (CNLP)\, and author or co-author of many books for Rodale Press. With her book Great Garden Companions she has appeared and lectured in 15 states\, from Florida to Alaska. In Western New York she is seen weekly on Channel 4 (WIVB-TV) on Sunday mornings\, and her column appears on Fridays in the Buffalo News. During the season she also works as a garden consultant for Lockwood's Greenhouses in Hamburg?where she recommends unusual plants\, offers classes\, and helps homeowners and gardeners. Sally was formerly the Cornell Cooperative Extension agent/educator for Erie County\, and managed the Master Gardener Program. She recently wrote the Green Gardening chapter for the Revised Encyclopedia of Organic Gardening (Rodale) and is currently writing Tackling Trouble?IPM for Home and Garden for Cornell University. After her talk\, Sally?s books will be available for sale or signing.
