SUMMARY:FLFCU Presents an Artist Exhibition by Floyd Abraham Norman
DESCRIPTION:The Finger Lakes Federal Credit Union presents an art exhibition by the late local artist\, Floyd Abraham Norman. His work is on display at the FLFCU Main Office (Geneva Branch) lobby and Loan Department. An opening reception with the artist will be held Friday\, February 7th\, 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM at the Credit Union's Main Office. Light refreshments\, including a wine tasting by Fulkerson Winery\, will be provided. \n\n	Floyd Abraham Norman\, a Genevan who painted and appreciated art throughout his entire life\, died in August 2013. Mr. Norman was born in his home on Tillman Street in Geneva on March 28\, 1926. He graduated from Geneva High School in 1944 and immediately joined the Army Air Force\, serving from 1944 to 1946 in World War II. He was a ball turret gunner on a B-24 bomber. Following his honorable discharge from the Army\, he entered Syracuse University\, graduating with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in 1952. He then spent time in New York City and Curacao\, Curasol Island and the Dutch West Indies in the Caribbean. During the time he spent in Curacao and the West Indies\, he began his painting career. Mr. Norman then returned to the United States\, living first in Rochester and later in Geneva\, where he remained for the rest of his life. He was seldom seen without a sketchbook in his hands. He owned and operated Gallery II Beauty Shop on Washington Street. Clients of the Gallery II shop were exposed to his frequently changing displays featuring his varied approaches to his work: oil paintings\, pastels\, watercolors\, and sketches in pastel pencil\, charcoal\, and crayon. His love of art defined him as a person and his deeply philosophical approach to life endeared him to friends and family.\n\n	Displayed at the Credit Union is a variety of his work\, some pieces on loan from private collections and others owned by his estate.\n\n	If you are a local artist seeking a location to display your art or photography\, simply contact Pat Ely\, Marketing Director\, at (315) 781-1334 Ext. 134\, for FLFCU Supports the Arts information.
