David Lee Foster's "Conquering the Power of Death: A Vietnam Survival Story" is based on his experience serving in the U.S. Marines during the war. His presentation will acquaint the audience with those Genevans who died as a result of their service in Vietnam. He will try to convey the American mindset at the time of the war and demonstrate how that mindset has progressed to the present. Finally\, he will try to personalize the experience so that the audience can see\, feel\, and assess the war through the eyes of someone who was there.\n\n \n\n David Lee Foster served as a Marine Corps Sergeant\, assigned to the 1st Marine Airwing and 1st Marine Division in and around DaNang\, Vietnam during 1970-71. Upon leaving the Marine Corps\, Foster went on to earn a B.A. in Economics and Political Science and a J.D. in law. A longtime trial and municipal attorney\, Mr. Foster is involved with delivery of legal services to the indigent\, private trial practice\, and service as a municipal attorney in Geneva\, New York. He is also involved with prison ministry and services to veterans.\n\n \n\n This lecture is supported in part by the Samuel B. Williams fund for programs in the Humanities.
